A renewable future depends on a clean and reliable source of carbon neutral energy carriers. OptiRock Group’s engineers are using their expertise to find solutions for some of hydrogen’s biggest challenges:
OptiRock Group's researchers and engineers are working in collaboration with New England Research (NER) on research funded by ARPA-E under the Geologic Hydrogen exploratory topic. The project: "Accelerated Mechanical Promotion (AMP) of Serpentinization for Hydrogen Production" seeks to develop a method for environmentally safe self-propagating fractures to stimulate geologic hydrogen. The team will monitor the creation of fracture networks and how fractures can propagate within a rock under a variety of physical or mechanical stimuli. Optimizing the self-propagating fractures can dramatically increase reaction rates in iron-rich host rocks to produce economic amounts of hydrogen.
